Come take a journey inside the lives of Danity, Raven, Desmond, Christian, Amber, Paige, Patrick and Shannon. See life the way they see it. It doesn’t matter how much you have or don’t have; life as a teenager is tough. It seems that for these youth, there is always someone to please. Whether it is a teacher, a friend, a parent or even their own selves, the peer pressure in life can sometimes be overwhelming.
These candid short stories paint vivid pictures of issues that teens deal with in everyday life.
Danity is a bright middle school aged girl with a huge crush on Zachary. Although she has boxes and boxes of letters she’s written him ever since school started, she dared not have the guts to present them to him. However, when her rival, Asia, decides she wants to have some fun in class one day, Danity’s life is turned upside down and inside out.
Christian is tired of being bullied at school and would do anything if his mother would home-school him. If Billy Baldwin would just disappear, his life would be so much better. Christian is stressed and knows something has to give as he stands in the kitchen, ready to put a knife in his backpack.
Paige and Amber want to be a part of the high school Woman’s Club, but in order to join you can’t be a virgin. Amber’s parents are so strict that freedom is something she’s only read about. When the opportunity presents itself, how will she handle it? Paige doesn’t have a desire to be the last virgin on earth, but she doesn’t know if she’s ready to make that big step either. The peer pressure of trying to stay in the “in” crowd is very costly.
Shannon has been labeled the “school tramp” for as long as she can remember. She’d like to have female friends, but it’s hard when the only people that will talk to you are boys…and that’s only because they want your “goodies”. It’s hard to turn over a new leaf when everybody knows your past.
Desmond can’t wait until his eighteenth birthday, so he can move out. He can’t stand to live in the same house with his stepfather. The two of them constantly bump heads, and Desmond is about ready to explode. When he does, it is not going to be pretty.
These are only a few of the challenges of life for these characters. Once you open up these pages just sit down and enjoy the ride. Inside My World is the “bridge over troubled waters” that sheds spiritual light on darkness. It’s time to unmask the hidden tears once and for all.
